How to Win at Birthday Tees

Research Findings:

  1. Teehee shirts is the most popular birthday tee for masculine ones
  2. Sells about 30 shirts a day. So $10K profit per month
  3. They do advertise though. So maybe $10K CAD profit per month
  4. Customers mostly buy for: son, dad, husband, daughter, self – in that order
  5. Has 2 competitors only, and both suck.
  6. They have great main images – cozy cabin feeling, general masculinity that fits everyone of all ages, great designs
  7. Great reviews
  8. They can do glitter too, but it’s not hugely advertised / displayed
  9. Weakness: none that I can see.

What I can do better:

  1. Offer some more vibrant colours based on what people actually buy (based on review photos)
  2. Better design for “Vintage” – maybe base on vintage wine labels
  3. More colour choices and shirt style specifically for “Vintage”
  4. Vintage, followed by, “Aged to perfection”
  5. “Chapter 62” (maybe Harry Potter style?)
  6. “[Name]. The Man. The Myth. The Legend.”

Build on my foundation

Hung out with Stan, drank a bottle of cabs together as dinner lat night.

Woke up with a revelation. One that I re-remembered. But this is an important point in my life I believe. It’ll change my course of action.

I have to build on my existing foundation, somehow. The more leverage the better.

Imagine trying to build land in the ocean. You can have scattered floating pieces, or you can have them all together, which give you an area of land. Then build on top of that, castles and dreams.

Imagine building a city, or, an empire rather.

You can build schools, industries, hospitals. But don’t go build two of the same thing that don’t feed off each other. Two hospitals and no school doesn’t help grow an empire.

So what do I do?

Quest is a food company, not just a power bar.

Impact Theory wants to be Disney.

Elon Musk built Paypal. He didn’t build another version of Paypal. He leveraged his money and credibility to build Tesla and SpaceX. Same as Mark Lore.

I was giving up on Knot Theory too soon. I hit challenges and I blame it on the length of the name, the complexity of the name, the price of my rings, etc etc. The truth is, I can overcome all that with strong branding, great products, great marketing.

I woke up also with a wary feeling, because, I didn’t expand Knot Theory fast enough when the time was right. I was a bit behind in everything it feels like. I didn’t expand to more products in the early days of Amazon. I didn’t expand to more price points in the early days of Knot Theory. I got those tips, but I didn’t take them.

So, the important question is, what will I do differently this time?

I think about the future of Knot Theory on Amazon. The profit margin will get slimmer and slimmer for sure.

To overcome that, I need to be stronger off Amazon. And on Amazon, I need to offer products that are competitively priced.

Just like Dad said, that I need to offer some really expensive rings. I can go both ways I think.

I need to build on what I have build.

I need to leverage what I have.

Not going to start from scratch again on the rings. New social media. Can you imagine! Just love the brand. Make it amazing!

So, I’ll order more rings from Fred. We’ll compete with Thunderfit. Come to think of it, Knot Theory is only 1 space longer than Thunderfit! And our name looks so classy.

If I want to look at all the ways that Knot Theory is more amazing than the other brands, I could! And I should!

We have so many amazing colours. We are engravable soon. We can have Swarovski soon.

We are priced perfectly to go both up and down!

We can offer customization on Amazon. We can spend money on ads. We can sell to stores and still make a profit.

Learn to really, REALLY, love what I have.

The theme of the month has been “REVERSE ENGINEERING”.

I want to reverse engineer my competitors in silicone rings. I know it’ll be tough mentally, seeing their successes. But I have thunderfit’s manufacturer, and I have some brand establishment. I’m in a better position than others to get into this. I can do it!

I want to start my Etsy shirt shop. I’ll reverse engineer what other have done well in.

I want to engrave the rings.

I want to figure out PPC.

I want to know my data inside out so I can improve my ppc even more – already created databases and google sheet formulas for this.

My worries:

  1. I now have to re-do engraver set-up since Miguel had me install the newer version of Rayjet Manager.
    • It’ll only take me 1 to 2 more days to set it up. Once set up, it’s actually better than Mini Manager for delegation
    • There is still time to launch before Xmas!
  2. I have to hire and train a new VA
    • You only have to pay half since Masha has paid for half
    • Ariane and Jay can help train!
  3. PPC is not going great
    1. There was an Election. Things will become more steady.
    2. Do your best. You are learning more and more.
    3. Worst case, you go back to Sellerlabs
  4. Martin is 2x more expensive than Fred
    • Yes but he is also more personable to work with. Less design and colour leak.
  5. Thunderfit and ROQ are so far ahead of me.
    • Yes but you can reverse engineer what they are doing
    • You are in the best position, compared to others
  6. Qalo, Enso, Groove Life are so far ahead of me
    • Learn from them!
  7. Masha is winning and might become more successful
    • It’s ok, don’t compare yourself to her. She whored herself and you didn’t.
    • Would you trade your life with hers? No way! So don’t get jealous. Get motivated.
  8. Stocks
    • In time, your stocks will bounce back. It’s just a matter of vaccine.
    • You maybe earn 1 or 2 millions even!
  9. Engraving takes my time and freedom
    • You will find a way to delegate this
  10. Sales have been going downward
    • Give yourself until the end of January 2021 to figure out ppc
    • Keep learning, keep trying. Don’t give up.
    • If things aren’t good, go back to Sellerlabs
  11. Still don’t have lower brand trademark and it’ll take time to get it
    • Maybe you don’t need it
    • Keep brainstorming on good names

You are doing more than ever in the past 5 years! There are more challenges because you are doing so much! But that’s totally ok!

The important thing is to not beat yourself up.
